about.

i have been living and working in chicago since 1991, but get away as much as i can to perform in places like amsterdam, london, moscow, austin, l.a. and new york. i am also a true d.i.y. girl and can do just about anything that i set my little mind to. but i never boast that i am extremely good at anything one thing - except falling.

i founded breakbone danceco., a small dance company with 5 core members, in 1997 and have dedicated most of my creative energy to producing over 30 works, 13 evening length epics, and through this time garnered numerous awards, fellowships, residencies and grants.

in 1998, i developed a style of extreme release technique that i coined "the bodyslam technique" and codified a system of falling skills to teach dancers how to be fearless with gravity. after a decade of teaching and performing this style, cut to 2007, i am now pursuing other interests such as: running marathons, investigating other dance talents that i have, and pushing my comfort zones in my choreographic process.

i enjoy extreme physical exertive/exhaustive dance as opposed to the dancey-poo aesthetically pleasing schtuff that dominates the dance cliché. i also really love to investigate dirty warehouses and make art that is relevant, cathartic, absurd, and controversial.
